Entering Sunday's AdvoCare 500 at Phoenix International Raceway all eyes were on the championship fight between Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski. After the race there is almost too much to talk about including a different fight.
Take your pick, the championship changing event that was Jimmie Johnson's blown tire and crash that relegated him to a 32nd place finish. The contact between Clint Bowyer and Jeff Gordon in the closing laps that damaged Gordon's car. The retaliation for the contact that Gordon dished out on Bowyer right in front of Keselowski. The fight that would ensue between the No. 15 team and the No. 24 team. Bowyer's sprint to Gordon's hauler. Richard Childress whining that the race should be over. Jeff Burton taking out Danica Patrick. NASCAR not throwing the yellow flag when they should have. The pile-up off Turn 4 at the checkered flag. Keselowski finishing sixth with a torn up racecar and having a 20 point lead heading to Homestead. Kevin Harvick winning the race.
It all happened and it all was shocking and almost breathtaking to see.
I'll hash everything out in an article Monday once I have time to digest all of the events from a wild day in the desert.Tags: Brad Keselowski, Clint Bowyer, Danica Patrick, Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Motorsports, NASCAR, Phoenix International Raceway, Richard Childress
