On Sunday it was confirmed that Formula One is looking into returning to the Hermann Tilke-penned Istanbul Park where the series raced from 2005 to 2011 but did not go to this season because race organizers and Bernie Ecclestone could not agree on the race fee.
Word is that Vural Ak, a local businessman, has bought the circuit's managing rights and is willing to help pay some of the fee that will make it possible for the two sides to be closer on the race fee price.
"It is an issue that we would be happy to discuss with those responsible," Ecclestone said. "We would very much like to return to Turkey."
It was also reported that Ecclestone has ruled out a France race and is pushing for the Turkey event. A concrete decision could be coming in the next week.
