On Monday BRANDT announced that it is returning to sponsor the No. 31 Tuner Scott Motorsports entry in the NASCAR Nationwide Series driven by Justin Allgaier. There was a lot of speculation that Allgaier would be changing teams but as things turned out, Allgaier will stay with the same team he raced for in 2011 and 2012.
It will be the 26-year old Allgaier's fifth full time season in the Nationwide Series and his third in a row with BRANDT and Turner Scott Motorsports. Last season Allgaier finished sixth in the drivers standings with one win coming at the road course in Montreal. In 2011 he won once as well with the team at Chicagoland and finished third in the points.
"I am so excited to come back with BRANDT on my car," said Allgaier. "I've known the people at BRANDT for years and I could not be more proud of representing them on and off the track. They are a family-owned business with literal roots in my home community. I think that championship trophy will look incredible in their headquarters lobby!"
Allgaier will have stiff competition in the Nationwide Series in 2013 for the championship as the field of full time drivers looks to be pretty impressive.
Before Allgaier moved to Turner he ran two full seasons in 2009 and 2010 for Penske Racing. He finished sixth and fourth in the points in those two seasons and picked up his first NASCAR win in 2010 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Allgaier is also the 2008 ARCA Racing Series champion.
James Buescher scored Turner Motorsports its first NASCAR Championship in 2012 in the Camping World Truck Series and the organization just went through rebranding and renaming. Harry Scott is now a co-owner with Steve Turner of the newly named Turner Scott Motorsports.
"We couldn't be happier to have BRANDT and Justin Allgaier back with Turner Scott Motorsports in 2013," said Scott. "BRANDT has been a fantastic partner with this team and we're very excited to be working with them as they celebrate their 60th anniversary and spotlight the agriculture industry. There is no doubt that Justin and the No. 31 team will be in the hunt for the championship next year. BRANDT, Justin and Turner Scott Motorsports have been a formidable combination and we're looking forward to a very successful 2013."
