Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and IndyCar driver Mike Conway have agreed to a one-off drive at the Long Beach Grand Prix on April 21st, the third race of the season. Conway will be in a second car fielded by RLLR with Graham Rahal in the other full time entry.

A sponsor for Conway for the Long Beach race will be announced at a later date. Depending on the terms of the sponsorship there is a chance that Conway could be behind the wheel of the second team car for more races in 2013.

Fellow free agent driver Ryan Briscoe, formerly of Penske Racing, reportedly turned down the one-race deal with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing to keep searching for a full-time ride.

Conway at age 29 is entering his fifth IndyCar season. In 2012 he raced for AJ Foyt's team in the first 14 of 15 races. His best finish was a podium of third at Toronto. Conway started seventh but finished 19th after just completing 41 of 85 laps after gearbox issues at Long Beach last season. In 2011 Conway won the Long Beach Grand Prix racing for Andretti Autosport. It was Conway's only career victory in IndyCar and one of his three podiums in 53 career starts.
