NFL stars have always had interest in NASCAR. Dan Marino, Brett Favre, Mark Rypien, Randy Moss, Joe Gibbs and even Reggie White had interest in owning a NASCAR team. Today former NFL linebacker Bill Romanowski can add his name to that list.
Romanowski has bought minority ownership into Swan Racing's #30 Toyota with driver David Stremme. Romanowski founded a nutrition company called Nutrition53. Romanowski's company will sponsor the #30 car for 10 races in the 2013 season.
"I am thrilled to jump into the NASCAR world as a part owner and as a sponsor," said Romanowski, who played primarily for the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. "Brandon has a vision for how to build a championship contender and I'm eager to be part of it."
The team was recently purchased by Swan Energy CEO, Brandon Davis. Davis made a commitment to running all the races in 2013, and not starting and parking in any, something the team has done over the last two seasons.
"Bill Romanowski understands what it takes to win, which makes him a perfect fit at Swan Racing," said Davis, who remains the majority owner. Bill is the only linebacker to start in five Super Bowls, and he did it playing for four different teams. His leadership skills and approach to successful competition will help Swan Racing become a championship contender."
It was announced earlier in the month that Michael Waltrip will run for the team at Daytona. Stremme is expected to run the rest of the schedule.Tags: David Stremme, michael waltrip, Motorsports, NASCAR, Swan Racing
