We are inching closer to the Drive4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway on February 23rd as the NASCAR Nationwide Series will kick off their 2013 season.
Wednesday it was announced that former ARCA Series driver Chad Hackenbracht has signed a developmental contract with Tri-Star Motorsports. Hackenbracht had 47 starts in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. He recorded his first career ARCA win in 2012 when he won the August 4th race at Pocono Raceway and finished fifth in the point standings. Hackenbracht will run at least five races for the organization in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2013, he is excited to venture into NASCAR.
"I am excited for the opportunity to race with TriStar Motorsports in the Nationwide Series," said Hackenbracht. "I have not run any NASCAR events and I'm excited to make my debut in the Nationwide Series with an established team. My expectations are to finish every race I run this year, qualify in the top-20 and pull off top-15 finishes."
The 21-year olds exact schedule will be announced at a later date.
It was also announced Wednesday that Reed Sorenson will pilot the #40 Chevrolet for The Motorsports Group in the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series. Sorenson has 354 career NASCAR starts under his belt including 171 in the Nationwide Series where he has recorded four wins. Sorenson ran six races in the Nationwide Series in 2012 and recorded a best finish of 13th at Kentucky Speedway.
